We are a very open club with about 300 swimming and water polo members aged from 4 to 70+.

Learn to Swim

Parents wishing to place children aged under 5 years on our waiting list for consideration at a future date into our 'Learn to Swim' programme should click here. Demand for places is high and parents are advised to apply early. You will then be contacted on a first come first served basis as soon as a place becomes available.

Entrance Criteria

Boys and girls who can already swim can usually be fast-tracked through to our "Improvers" or "Junior Development "squads.

The club's entrance criteria are that swimmers should:

• be able to swim 1 width on front and back with a recognised stroke with correct technique
  
• be able to show a reasonable attempt at diving
  
• have an interest in progressing towards competitive swimming.

If current swimmers are interested in joining the club, they are invited to attend a free water trial at Cheam Leisure Centre on any Wednesday night with one of our club coaches. Please contact to book an appointment for a water test. If you can't phone, just turn up on the night. Please come along with swimming trunks/goggles and a towel and we will assess the swimmer's ability. During the trial, swimmers will be asked to swim one length of each of the following strokes:

• Front crawl
  
• Backstroke
  
• Breaststroke
  
• Butterfly (basic only)

Accepted swimmers will then be placed in the appropriate training group for their ability and development.

Applicants are then required to return a completed application form to the club. Once accepted, membership and training fees will be due within two weeks.
